Enhancement Shaman PvE 3.3.5 Guide

A few notes: 1. Consider elemental anytime. Higher dps, would be better to have elemental than enhancement in an arena team and so on.

2. No, it's not a joy doing dps with this class.


Since I don't know if anything has been fixed yet, I'll post 2 talent trees(with additional options) you might wanna consider.

1) This is the basic spec. You get mana reduction on your shocks and stormstrikes return 20% of base mana after being used:

2) Consider testing the talent Improved Windfury Totem. It didn't use to work before but it may be fixed now. If it still doesn't work remove the 2 points from it and put them on Reverbation(elemental tree).

3) If you're getting overwhelmed by mana and you feel you don't do as much dps, you can remove 2 points from Improved Stormstrike or 1p from SF and 1 from IS or leave only 1p in either IS or SF.

Rotation/Priority System

Most enhancement shamans and websites would advise you to use the Priority System which is as follows:

MW5_LB - Cast a Lightning Bolt when you have 5 Maelstrom weapon stacks - Chain Lightning does less dmg against a single target as it doesn't scale as well. For multiple target fights then naturally using Chain Lightning will be higher dps.

LS_0 - Cast Lightning Shield if there are no orbs left on you.

SW - Cast Feral Spirit if the ability is off CD. (Use your own judgement for timing with Bloodlust/Heroism)

SR - Cast Shamanistic Rage if the ability is off CD. (with 2p T10 should be used immediately)

SS_0 - Cast a Stormstrike if there are no charges left on the target.

FE - Cast your Fire Elemental if it is off CD (This will also free up GCDs for other abilities making it very useful during Bloodlust/Heroism).

MT_0 - Refresh your Magma Totem if it has expired.

FS - Cast a Flame Shock if there is no Flame Shock debuff on target.

ES - Cast an Earth shock whenever its off cooldown and the above are not available.

SS - Cast a Stormstrike whenever its off cooldown and MW hasn't got 5 stacks - this does a fair amount of damage but more importantly refreshes the SS debuff on the target giving 28% extra nature damage (20% base + 8% glyph).

LL - Cast a lava lash whenever its off cooldown and none of the above abilities are available.

FN - Cast Fire Nova regardless of single target or AOE targets.

MT - Refresh your Magma Totem if there are 2 secs or less left.

LS - Refresh your Lightning Shield if low number of orbs remaining (2 or less).

Totem refresh - if all else is on cooldown take the opportunity, if required, to refresh your totems.

I, myself, am NOT using that. First cause I'm lazy to prioritize stuff, second cause I've personally made a macro with which I had been dpsing this whole time: /startattack /console Sound_EnableSFX 0 /castsequence reset=6 magma totem,stormstrike,lava lash,flame shock,lightning shield,stormstrike,lava lash,earth shock /console Sound_EnableSFX 1

After applying FS use ES until you have to re-apply FS. It's not a big dps boost as with Elemental(since FS up makes your LB crit) but it's something.

For AOE fights, just pop in a Fire Nova when it's off CD and when you DON'T have 5 stacks of MW. As said above, always use MW5_LB before anything else.


Glyph of Stormstrike, Glyph of Feral Spirit and Glyph of Windfury Weapon OR Glyph of Flame Shock. Depends on your playstyle, Glyph of WW gives a 2% bonus to proc WW while Glyph of FS increases FS' crit damage bonus by 60%.


Always, ALWAYS 2x 2.60 weapons. No fast-handers. You need at least 2.50 and at most 2.80 speed to proc your WF correctly. Lower than 2.5 that will make you hit more white stuff instead of hitting WF procs. Higher than 2.8 will make you miss WF procs and basically do even less white damage.


First, you need to get Spell Hit(may be the same thing as normal hit since it never made a difference in numbers to me) capped. This is very important since spells have a miss of 17%(16% for draenei), which can be lowered to 14% with raid buffs. So yeah, get 17%(or 14% if you think you will always have the other 3% from raid buffs) hit then we talk.

Second is your Expertise. The chance a boss to dodge your attack is 6.50% or 26 Expertise or 214 rating. Get as much of that as you can but don't overdo it.

Now here comes the hardest choice for all enhancement shamans. Stacking haste, stacking AP or balancing both. I've tried out the first 2 and the third was tried out by Lego(Roughnecks leader). Stacking haste turned out to be kinda good, that's when I hit 13.5k as max dps. Stacking AP was a mistake, big one. Lego told me that balancing both was reasonable, perhaps better than stacking haste.

TL;DR You're looking for gear with Agility, Intellect(and of course, Stamina). Hit>Expertise>Haste>Crit


Meta: Relentless Earthsiege Diamond

Yellow: Haste or Hit gems

Red: Agility or Expertise

Blue gems suck.


Bizuri's Totem of Shattered Ice(The periodic damage from your Flame Shock spell grants 44 haste rating for 30 sec. Stacks up to 5 times.)

Totem of the Avalanche(Your Stormstrike ability grants 146 attack power for 15 sec. Stacks up to 3 times.)

Totem of Quaking Earth(Each time you use your Lava Lash ability, you have a chance to gain 400 attack power for 18 sec.)

Totem of Splintering(Increases the attack power bonus on Windfury Weapon attacks by 212.)


Weapon enchants:

Berserking (Provides 400 attack power in exchange for 5% of your armor when it procs. Does stack if used on both weapons.)

Mongoose (Proc for 120 agility and 2% haste. Stacks if both weapons are imbued.)

Helm: Arcanum of Torment

Shoulders: Greater Inscription of the Axe

Chest: Enchant Chest - Powerful Stats

Cloak: Enchant Cloak - Major Agility or Enchant Cloak - Greater Speed

Tailoring Only: Swordguard Embroidery (25% proc rate, assuming 75 second cd (like the Darkglow Embroidery), average of ~58 AP)

Bracers: Enchant Bracers - Greater Assault or Enchant Bracers - Expertise

Gloves: Enchant Gloves - Crusher, Enchant Gloves - Precision or Enchant Gloves - Expertise

Boots: Enchant Boots - Icewalker

Legs: Icescale Leg Armor

Inscription Only: Master's Inscription of the Axe

Leatherworking Only: Fur Lining - Attack Power


Battle Elixir: Wrath Elixir(90 AP), Elixir of Mighty Agility(45 Agi), Elixir of Accuracy(45 Hit), Elixir of Deadly Strikes(45 Crit), or Elixir of Expertise(45 Exp)

Flask: Flask of Endless Rage(180 AP)

Food: Fish Feast(80 AP, 46 SP and 40 Sta) or Dalaran Clam Chowder(60 AP, 35 SP and 30 Sta)

Feral Spirits

Our 51 point talent produces approximately 100-200 net DPS when used on each cooldown, around 300-400 DPS during each activation. Wolves scale with the shaman's Stamina, Hit Rating, Armor and Attack Power. Their attacks fall under the 1H/2H attack table and will reach the Hit cap on physical attacks at 8% (262 rating).

Stats on Spirit Wolves can be viewed by summoning the wolves and using the following script command. The pet data will be visible in the character paperdoll as an additional Pet tab.
